A Place to Connect
1. Platform Role & Nature of Services
A Place to Connect functions strictly as an online technology, venue, and direct referral marketplace. A Place to Connect is not a home health agency, home care organization, employment agency, or healthcare provider. The platform merely facilitates direct introductions between independent caregivers seeking care opportunities and individual clients or families seeking care services.
2. Independent Contractor Status
All caregivers registered on or found through A Place to Connect are independent contractors and self-employed service providers. Nothing contained on this platform or within these Terms of Service shall be construed as creating an employer-employee relationship, joint venture, partnership, agency, or franchise between A Place to Connect and any caregiver, client, or care recipient. Caregivers retain total sole discretion over: the negotiation and acceptance of hourly rates, duties, and work schedules; the manner, means, and methods of delivering care services; and their choice to accept or decline service engagements with any client.
3. No Employer Obligations or Payroll Handling
Clients and families acknowledge that they deal directly with caregivers as independent contractors or direct private employees. A Place to Connect does not employ, manage, direct, control, or supervise caregivers. Clients are solely responsible for compliance with any applicable federal, state, or local tax withholding, worker classification laws, household employer obligations, or labor laws resulting from any agreement made between a client and a caregiver.
4. Screening, Background Checks & No Warranty
While A Place to Connect may offer tools or integrations allowing caregivers to display identity verification badges or third-party background checks, A Place to Connect does not independently endorse, verify, guarantee, or warrant the character, credentials, qualifications, medical capabilities, background, or safety of any caregiver or client. Clients assume all risks associated with interviewing, selecting, screening, hiring, and contracting with caregivers. A Place to Connect strongly encourages all clients to conduct independent background checks, reference checks, and in-person interviews prior to retaining any service provider.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, A Place to Connect, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, injury, negligence, property damage, or disputes arising out of or in connection with: any caregiving services rendered or arranged through the platform; the conduct, acts, or omissions of any caregiver, client, or third party; or the accuracy of any information, profile data, or background check provided on the website.
Use of the Platform
By using A Place to Connect, you agree to these Terms of Service and all applicable laws. The platform is provided for lawful, non-commercial referral and matching purposes only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or arrange care through the site.
Accounts & Conduct
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as needed. Harassment, misrepresentation, fraud, or abuse of the platform will result in account termination.
Fees & Payments
A Place to Connect may charge subscription or listing fees as described on the site. All payments between clients and caregivers are arranged directly between those parties unless otherwise stated. The platform does not process payroll, withhold taxes, or provide employment benefits.
